Born in the Ionian Greek city of Miletus, Aspasia has been mentioned as a conversationalist and adviser in the writings of Plato, Aristophanes, Xenophon, and many others. She has been seen as a hetaera, and in some cases a harlot because of her decision to not marry the father of her son, Pericles. As a figure for all women, she held her independance and education to be the highest of priorities and will always remain a mystery in historical figures.

Competition is in every aspect of life, it is in our nature. Our blood instinct since the beginning of time, our impulse to survive. As it was billions of years ago, it still is today in modern society. Survival of the fittest, the golden slogan for all corporate and political heads with the lack of morals who see competition as the excuse for money-hungry slumps in suits to shred their way to the top only to leave the working class with conspiracy theories and not a dime in their pockets to afford a protest sign. From the colliding, needs vs economic reality, for health care to the demand for revitalization in inner city communities it always comes down to one general essential we can not seem to get enuogh of, money. That is all we really compete for in our society. More money, better clothes, nicer house, better education, higher living, the overwashed luxary and fabricated high-class nightmare our so called "American dream" has transformed into. Competition can be such a filthy, dehumanizing strive but that would be seeing it as unhealthy from a one-sided perspective. On the other hand, competition can be very healthy. The struggle is well needed to seperate those who really want something from those who expect it all to fall in their hands, but of course that trails back to the idea of survival of the fittest. Yes we should strive for the best of our well being, but are we so cold as to use others for personal gain. Is there no hope in our society, can a man with billions to spare honestly walk past a dying community without a second glance and still feel decent. Of course if he/she does not their outlook would be tthat hey took advantage of their life and worked for what they have, that community could have done the same. But that's not always the case. I understand competition in society can be both good and bad, but when our compassion for all the others around us fades and leaves one as a cold, selfish, emotionless corpse that is when competition has gone too far.
