Born in the Ionian Greek city of Miletus, Aspasia has been mentioned as a conversationalist and adviser in the writings of Plato, Aristophanes, Xenophon, and many others. She has been seen as a hetaera, and in some cases a harlot because of her decision to not marry the father of her son, Pericles. As a figure for all women, she held her independance and education to be the highest of priorities and will always remain a mystery in historical figures.

Journal 3
The vocabulary we learn every week has definately helped in my arguements around home. Of course I see it as giving me tremendous credability, my parents just think I am being a smart a** which I retort with, "no just pedantic mom." Definately very fun to mess with them of course I can not get in very much trouble because I am taking something from school and involving it in daily life. Also when reading or seeing vocabulary gives a deep down burst of excitement when citing a word used in class. A larger vocabulary gives you a vast variety. No one will take you seriously out in the world when using first grade jargon. You could be out, eating a crumpet on the subway when a random civilian next to you starts small talk. What are you going to say ? "My day is good." No no no. Having an extensive vocabulary can open doors you never knew existed. The opportunities are endless when having excellent diction. Writing becomes easier. Speaking and reading too. The vocabulary we learn in class has definately made a differance.
